Divorce is a stressful event that can have numerous short-term and long-term physical, psychological, and social consequences for children. The quality of the divorce process experience plays a significant role in the emergence of these consequences. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the indicators of low-damage divorce for children. This research was qualitative and phenomenological, and the participants consisted of 13 psychological counselors specializing in divorce in Kermanshah in 2024, selected through purposeful sampling. It is noteworthy that the sampling process continued until theoretical saturation was reached, and data analysis was conducted using Collizis' seven-step method. Analyzing the participants' experiences led to the identification of three main themes: "counseling interventions," "parent-oriented interventions," and "child-oriented interventions." The results indicated that divorce can be less harmful to children when planned interventions are implemented, such as not undermining the position of the other parent, maintaining healthy communication between parents after divorce, preserving pre-existing bonds of children after divorce, and positive cognitive interventions for both children and their parents. This study resulted in the identification of low-damage divorce indicators, and its findings can be utilized for planning to reduce the harms of divorce on children and providing counseling strategies.
