Abstract: (28 Views)
This research aimed to identify the lived experiences of male students suffering from marijuana use disorder. In this study, a qualitative approach and phenomenological method were used. The sample was purposefully selected from male marijuana users among students in Sanandaj during the academic year 2022-2023. In-depth and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 participants until theoretical saturation was reached. The data were analyzed using a qualitative thematic analysis, following the Colaizzi method. The results revealed three core themes, eight main themes, and thirty-two sub-themes. The core themes included "psychological causes of substance use disorder," "short-term consequences of use," and "long-term consequences of use." The results showed that the long-term biological and psychological effects of marijuana can impact various aspects of an individual's life. The findings indicate a greater psychological impact from marijuana use, which includes aggression, emotional regulation disorders, increased deep sleep, apathy, experiences related to new addictive substances, experiences of financial difficulties, and lifestyle changes. The novelty of this research lies in identifying themes of flashbacks and changing attitudes toward marijuana use. Understanding the psychological and biological effects, as well as the changes that result from consumption, can act as a deterrent.
