Abstract: (19 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between primary maladaptive schemas and couples' happiness. Descriptive-correlation research method was structural modeling. The statistical population included the parents of the sixth-grade students of girls' and boys' schools in Karaj in the academic year 2023-2024, and 340 couples (680 people) were selected as a sample by random cluster sampling. The research tools included the short form of Young's early maladaptive schemas questionnaire (YSQ-SF) by Young and Brown (1994), Marital Happiness Scale (MHS) by Azrin et al (1973), and Self-Compassion Scale Long Form (SCS-LF) by Neff (2003). Structural equation analysis was used to analyze the data. The results showed the optimal fit of the research model. The results showed a significant direct effect of primary incompatible schemas on happiness (P=0.001) and self-compassion (P=0.001), as well as the direct effect of self-compassion on happiness (P=0.001) of couples. Also, the results showed the indirect effect of early maladaptive schemas on happiness with the mediation of self-compassion (P=0.001). These results show that self-compassion can explain the happiness of couples according to the role of primary incompatible schemas.
