Abstract:   (126 Views)
The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of group schema therapy and acceptance and commitment group therapy on academic procrastination and emotion regulation in male high school students with Internet addiction. The present research method is semi-experimental and pre-test and post-test with a 3-month follow-up phase. The statistical population of this study included all male high school students with Internet addiction in Borujerd city in the academic year 2023-2024, from which 36 people were selected purposively and placed in 3 groups: intervention one (12 people), intervention two (12 people), and control (12 people) by simple randomization. The instruments used in this study included a demographic questionnaire, Young's Internet Addiction Questionnaire (IAT, 1998), Gross and John's Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ, 2003), and the Savari Academic Procrastination Questionnaire (2011). The experimental groups underwent the intervention of "Acceptance and Commitment" and "Group Schema Therapy". The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that by controlling the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean of the post-test of emotion regulation and academic procrastination in the three groups. The results of the follow-up test also indicated a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the two experimental groups. So that group schema therapy had a higher effectiveness on the two dependent variables than acceptance and commitment therapy.
