Abstract: (23 Views)
The present study aimed to assess the feasibility of a family strengthening group training package on parent-adolescent conflict in male first-year high school students. The research method was a semi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population included all male first-year high school students in Sanandaj city, along with their fathers, in the academic year 2023-2024. Thirty students, along with their fathers who were willing to cooperate, were selected using a convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 experimental and 15 control). Parents in the experimental group underwent 11 sessions 60-minute (3 sessions per week) of a family strengthening group training package. The measurement tool in this study was the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire (CTSP, Strauss, 1990). Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and post-test of parent-adolescent conflict in the experimental and control groups, and there was also no significant difference at the 0.001 level between the post-test and follow-up mean in the experimental group. And the results were maintained in the follow-up period. Based on the results of the study, it can be said that the family strengthening group training program is an appropriate intervention method for improving parent-adolescent conflict in male students in the first year of high school.
