Abstract: (15 Views)
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of compassion-based therapy on cognitive fusion and disgust sensitivity in patients with psoriasis. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of the study was all patients with psoriasis who were referred to Razi Dermatology Hospital in Tehran in 2024. A sample of 30 people was selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group received compassion-based therapy for 8 sessions, two 60-minute sessions per week. The research instruments were the Cognitive Fusion Questionnaire (CFQ; Gillanders et al., 2014) and the Disgust Sensitivity (D-Scale; Heidt et al., 1994). The research data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The findings showed that, after controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean post-test cognitive fusion and disgust sensitivity of psoriasis patients in the experimental and control groups. Based on the findings of this study, compassion-based therapy reduces cognitive fusion and disgust sensitivity in psoriasis patients.
