The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between emotional self-awareness and personal resilience, with the mediating role of cohesive self-knowledge in students who experienced emotional breakdown. The research method was descriptive-correlational, using structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all students of Payam Noor University, South Tehran, who had an emotional breakdown in the academic year 2024-25. From this population, 310 students who were willing to participate in this research were selected as a statistical sample using convenience sampling. The research instruments used to collect data were Grant et al.'s Emotional Self-Awareness (ESQ) (2002), Ghorbani et al.'s Integrative Self-Awareness (ISQ) (2008), and Connor and Davidson's Resilience Scale (RQ) (2003). The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings showed that the research model had a good fit. The findings also showed that emotional self-awareness has a positive and significant effect on both variables of individual resilience (P<0.001) and cohesive self-knowledge (P<0.001). Also, cohesive self-knowledge has a positive and significant effect on individual resilience (P<0.01). By including the variable of cohesive self-awareness in the model, the indirect effect of emotional self-awareness on individual resilience became positive and significant (P<0.002). As a result, it can be said that cohesive self-knowledge can play a mediating role in the relationship between emotional self-awareness and individual resilience.
