Abstract:   (24 Views)
The purpose of this study was to determine the mediating role of online game addiction in the relationship between anger and malevolent creativity among adolescents with symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A descriptive-correlational design using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed. The statistical population consisted of all secondary school students in district 1 of Rasht, Iran, exhibiting ADHD symptoms during the 2022-2023 academic year. A purposive sampling technique was selected for 240 participants. Data were collected using the Child Symptom lnventory-4 (CSI-4; Gadow et al., 1984), the Malevolent Creativity Behavior Scale (MCBS; Hao et al., 2016), the Children’s Inventory of Anger (ChIA; Nelson & Finch, 2000), and the Online Games Addiction Questionnaire (OGAI; Whang & Chang, 2002). Data analysis utilized SEM. The final model demonstrated a good fit. Results indicated significant positive direct effects of anger on both malevolent creativity and online games addiction, and a significant positive direct effect of online games addiction on malevolent creativity (P < 0.01). Bootstrap analysis confirmed the mediating role of online game addiction in the relationship between anger and malevolent creativity (P < 0.05). Findings suggest that increased anger significantly contributes to increased malevolent creativity, and this relationship is mediated by online game addiction. Therefore, online game addiction and anger may be predictive factors for malevolent creativity.
