Abstract: (63 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation on improving working memory, cognitive emotion regulation, and attention deficits in adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. The present study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test, and included a control group. The statistical population consisted of all adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who were referred to counseling and psychotherapy centers in Tehran in 1402. A sample size of 40 individuals was estimated, and they were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups of 20 individuals each. Data collection tools included the Working Memory Test of Daniman and Carpenter (1980, DWM), the Attention Test or the Toles-Piron Accuracy Test (1986, TPT), and the Persian form of the Children's Version of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2007, CERQ-K-P). Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. The results showed that, after controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the posttest of the experimental and control groups in working memory, cognitive emotion regulation, and attention deficits in adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (P<0.05). From the above findings, it can be concluded that cognitive rehabilitation was effective in improving working memory, cognitive emotion regulation, and attention deficits in adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
