Abstract:   (11 Views)

This research aimed to comparison of the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy and Islamic life skills training on cognitive emotion regulation strategies in adolescents with internet addiction. The present research method was a type of quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test design, and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The population of this research included students with internet addiction in Rasht in 2024, among them 48 students selected by purposive sampling, and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group (16 people). The research questionnaire was the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Garnefski et al, 2001, CERQ). Repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the pre-test scores of adaptive and maladaptive strategies of cognitive emotion regulation had a significant difference with the post-test and follow-up scores (P>0.05). Also, the results indicated that there was a significant difference between the two treatments over time (P>0.05), which shows the greater effectiveness of compassion therapy than Islamic life skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that both treatments are effective as a stable intervention on cognitive emotion regulation strategies in adolescents with internet addiction, but compassion therapy is more effective.
