Abstract:   (27 Views)
The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of emotional schema therapy and dialectical behavior therapy on self-criticism in maltreated adolescents. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population included male high school students in Hamadan in the academic year 2024. 45 people were selected from three schools using non-random sampling and randomly assigned to three groups: experiment 1 (15 people), experiment 2 (15 people), and control (15 people). The Levels of Self-Criticism Scale (LOSC; Thompson & Zuroff, 2004) was used to collect data. Emotional schema therapy based on the Leahy et al. protocol and dialectical behavior therapy based on the Linehan model protocol were each implemented in groups for eight weeks of 90 minutes. The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in the post-test (P<0.05); however, in the follow-up phase, a significant difference was observed only between the dialectical behavior therapy and the control group (P<0.05); the findings also showed that there was a significant difference between the two treatment groups in the follow-up phase (P<0.05); in fact, only the dialectical behavior therapy intervention had a significant effect on reducing self-criticism over time. Overall, it can be concluded that dialectical behavior therapy was more effective than emotional schema therapy in reducing self-criticism in maltreated adolescents.
