Abstract: (162 Views)
The aim of the present study was to predict marital intimacy based on personality traits, cognitive flexibility, and forgiveness in married women with depressive symptoms. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the present study included married women with depressive symptoms who referred to psychological centers and health services affiliated with the Welfare and Psychological System Organization of Tehran Province in 2024. A total of 200 people were selected for the research sample through purposive sampling. The research instruments included the Depression Inventory (BDI-II, Beck et al., 1996), the Marital Intimacy Inventory (MINQ, Bagarozi, 2001), the Big Five Personality Inventory (Big 5, Goldberg, 1999), the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI, Dennis & Vander Wall, 2010), and the Forgiveness Scale (FFS, Pollard & Anderson, 1998). Pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness, cognitive flexibility, and forgiveness with marital intimacy, and there is a negative and significant relationship between neuroticism and marital intimacy (p<0.01). Also, the results of regression analysis showed that personality traits, cognitive flexibility, and forgiveness explain a total of 0.84 of the variance in marital intimacy.
