Abstract:   (4 Views)
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based training on self-efficacy, self-harming behaviors, and procrastination among adolescents in a correctional facility. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with an experimental group and a control group. The statistical population of the present study included male adolescents aged 11 to 18 years in a correctional center in Yazd in 2023. The research sample consisted of 30 individuals who were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental (15 individuals) and control (15 individuals) groups. The research instruments included the Sherer et al. Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES, 1982), Glenn & Klonsky Self-Injurious Behaviors (ISAS, 2011), and Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS, 2011). The experimental group received eight sessions of Mindfulness training based on Segal's model, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Analysis of covariance was used for analysis. The results showed that, by controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the mean post-test scores of self-efficacy, self-injurious behaviors, and procrastination in the experimental and control groups. Therefore, the research findings showed that mindfulness-based training was effective in promoting self-efficacy and reducing self-harming and procrastination behaviors in adolescents in correctional facilities.
