Abstract:   (207 Views)
The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy and life therapy on rumination in women with ovarian cancer. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a three-month follow-up period. The statistical population included women with ovarian cancer referred to a cancer specialist clinic in Sari in 2025. 45 people were selected using a non-random sampling method and were randomly assigned to three groups: experiment 1 (15 people), experiment 2 (15 people), and control (15 people). Data collection was performed using the Rumination Response Scale (RRS; Nolen-Hoeksema & Morrow, 1993). Dialectical behavior therapy based on the Linehan model protocol and life therapy based on the Hassanzadeh protocol were implemented in groups for eight 90-minute sessions each. The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that the rumination scores of both intervention groups decreased significantly compared to the control group in the pre-test, post-test and follow-up stages (P<0.05); the findings also showed that there was a significant difference in the reduction of rumination between the two intervention groups in the post-test and follow-up stages (P<0.05); in fact, dialectical behavior therapy had a greater effect on reducing rumination compared to life therapy. Overall, it can be concluded that both dialectical behavior therapy and life therapy were effective in reducing rumination; but the effect of dialectical behavior therapy was greater compared to life therapy.
