Abstract: (10 Views)
This study was conducted to predict aggressive behaviors in adolescent girls based on family functioning and mother-child interaction, with the mediating role of academic stress. The present research was descriptive-correlational and of path analysis type. The statistical population of the study was female students in the city of Ahvaz in the academic year 2023-2024. Using an available sampling method, a sample of 301 individuals was selected. The instruments of this study included the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ, Buss & Perry, 1992), the Family Assessment Device (FAD, Epstein et al., 1983), the Child-Parent Relationship Scale (CPRS, Pianta, 1997), and the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA, Sun et al., 2011). Data were analyzed using path analysis. The results of the path analysis indicated a suitable fit of the model. Results showed that family functioning was able to predict aggressive behaviors indirectly and through academic stress. Also, mother-child interaction was able to predict aggressive behaviors both directly and indirectly through academic stress (p‹.001). These results indicate that academic stress plays an important role in the link between family functioning and adolescent aggressive behaviors. Also, mother-child interaction can predict the occurrence of aggressive behaviors not only directly but also by influencing the level of academic stress. These results emphasize the importance of the quality of family relationships, especially maternal interactions, in preventing behavioral problems in adolescents.
