Abstract:   (240 Views)
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mentalization-based therapy on self-ambivalence and reassurance seeking in students with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population included female students referred to counseling centers in Khodabandeh County with a diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder in the academic year 2024-2025, from which 40 people were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two groups (20 people in each group). The research instruments included the Self-Ambiguity Questionnaire (SAM) by Bar and Kirios (2007) and the Overt and Covert Reassurance Seeking Inventory (CORSI) by Radomski et al. (2021). Mentalization-based therapy sessions were conducted in the form of 12 sessions of approximately one hour each. The repeated measures analysis of variance test and the Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant difference between pretest and post - test of self-ambivalence and reassurance seeking in experimental group at 0 / 01 level and there was no significant difference between post - test and follow-up ( p > 0.05 ) .according to the results, based on mentalization-based therapy, it is possible to improve ambivalence to self and assertiveness in students with symptoms of obsessive - compulsive disorder.
