Abstract: (230 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of maladaptive coping strategies in the relationship between rejection anxiety and aggression in students. This descriptive-correlational study was of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of this study was students of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Medical Sciences Branch in 2025. A purposive sample of 240 people participated in an online survey based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. To collect data, the Questionnaire on coping with stressful situations (CISS; Endler & Parker, 1990), the Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire (RSQ; Downey & Feldman, 1996), and the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ; Boss & Perry, 1992) were used. Data analysis was performed using the structural equation modeling method. The fit indices indicated that the proposed model had a favorable fit. The findings showed that rejection concern and maladaptive coping strategies were positively and significantly related to aggression (P<0.05); rejection concern and maladaptive coping strategies were positively and significantly related to aggression (P<0.05); The finding of the bootstrap test showed that maladaptive coping strategies played a mediating role in the relationship between rejection concern and aggression (P<0.05). The findings imply that rejection concern is directly related to aggression as well as through the mediating role of maladaptive coping strategies.
