Abstract:   (48 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a couples communication skills training program on marital disaffection and covert communicative aggression in women victims of domestic violence. The research method was a semi-experimental one with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population included women victims of domestic violence referring to counseling centers in Mahabad in 2024. Thirty of these individuals were selected using convenience sampling, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group underwent 10 90-minute sessions of a couples communication skills training program based on the Gottman model. The measurement tools in this study were the Marital Disappointment Scale (MDS, Kaiser, 1993) and the Covert Communicative Aggression Scale (CRAS, Carroll & Nelson, 2006). Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and post-test of marital frustration and latent communicative aggression in the experimental and control groups, and there was also no significant difference at the 0.001 level between the post-test and follow-up means in the experimental group, and the results were maintained during the follow-up period. Based on the results of the study, it can be said that the couples' communication skills training program based on the Gottman model is an appropriate intervention method for improving marital frustration and latent communicative aggression in women victims of domestic violence.
