Abstract:   (22 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of emotion reactivity in the relationship between self-critical rumination and suicide behavior among adolescents. The method of this study was descriptive-correlational, using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study was adolescents in the second year of high school in public schools in Babolsar city in the academic year 2025-2026, from which 200 people were selected as samples using the convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire–Revised (SBQ-R; Osman et al., 2001), the Self-Critical Rumination Scale (SCRS; Smart et al., 2016), and the Emotion Reactivity Scale (ERS; Nock et al., 2008). Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling. The findings indicated that the proposed model demonstrated a satisfactory fit to the data. The findings showed that self-critical rumination and emotion reactivity had a positive and significant direct relationship with suicide behavior; also, the relationship between self-critical rumination and emotion reactivity was positive and significant (P<0.05). Other results of the study showed that emotion reactivity played a mediating role between the relationship between self-critical rumination and suicide behavior (P<0.05). In summary, it can be concluded that self-critical rumination can be directly and indirectly related to suicide behavior in adolescents through the mediation of emotion reactivity.
