Abstract: (11 Views)
The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design, a control group, and a two-month follow-up. The statistical population of the study included mothers with children with behavioral problems in Tehran city who were referred to psychological clinics in 2023. From this population, 30mothers were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group underwent 8 sessions of 75 minutes under the compassion-based therapy program. The measurement tool was the Behavioral Problems Questionnaire (RCBQ-P, Rutter, 1967). Data analysis was done using the repeated-measures variance analysis method. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and the post-test of behavioral problems in the experimental and control groups. There was no significant difference at the 0.001 level between the post-test and follow-up averages in the experimental group. The results were maintained in the follow-up period. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that mentalization-based education is a suitable intervention method for reducing emotional and behavioral problems in children.
