Abstract: (5 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of paradox therapy on psychological flexibility and quality of life in individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group and a two‑month follow-up period. The statistical population consisted of individuals with PTSD who referred to Niayesh Psychiatric Hospital in 2025. Using purposive sampling, 30 participants were selected as the sample and randomly assigned to an experimental group (15 participants) and a control group (15 participants). The data collection instruments included the Personalized Psychological Flexibility Index (PPFI; Kashdan et al., 2020) and the short form of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF; WHOQOL Group, 1996). Participants in the experimental group received paradox therapy intervention in six individual sessions, each lasting 60 minutes. The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings indicated that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of psychological flexibility and quality of life in the experimental group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was no significant difference between the posttest and follow-up mean scores in the experimental group, indicating that the results were maintained during the follow-up period (p > 0.05). Overall, the results suggest that paradox therapy can play an effective role in improving psychological flexibility and quality of life.
