Abstract: (10 Views)
The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy (EFT) and intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP) on tolerance of uncertainty in women with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study included women with obsessive-compulsive disorder who had been referred to clinics and counseling and psychological service centers in Region 3 of Tehran in 2024. 45 people were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to three groups: experimental 1 (15 people), experimental 2 (15 people), and control (15 people). The Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS; Buhr & Dugas, 2002) was used to collect data. Each intervention group underwent the intervention separately for ten sessions. Data analysis was performed using mixed repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the mean pre-test and post-test scores of tolerance of ambiguity in the two experimental and control groups (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the post-test and follow-up (P<0.05), and the results were maintained in the follow-up period. Also, a significant difference was observed between the two experimental groups (P<0.05). Overall, it can be concluded that ISTDP has shown a greater effect than EFT in improving tolerance of uncertainty.
