Abstract: (72 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of systematic parenting education on the parent-child relationship, mothers’ parenting self-efficacy, and the self-esteem of preschool children in Ahvaz. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The statistical population consisted of mothers of preschool students in Ahvaz during the 2025–2026 academic year. Among them, 30 eligible participants were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n = 15) or the control group (n = 15). The experimental group received seven 90-minute sessions of systematic parenting education. Data were collected using the Parent-Child Relationship Inventory (PCRI; Gerard, 1994), the Parenting Self-Agency Measure (PSAM; Dumka et al., 1996), and the Children’s Self-Esteem Scale (SEC; Azizi-Moghadam, 2007). The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). The findings revealed that after controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the posttest means of the parent-child relationship, parenting self-efficacy, and children’s self-esteem in the experimental and control groups at the 0.05 significance level. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the systematic parenting education program has a satisfactory effect on improving the parent-child relationship and increasing both mothers’ parenting self-efficacy and the self-esteem of preschool children.
