This research was done with the purpose of the study of stress & academic burnout in predicting academic achievement (as a product of academic engagement) in students of public universities of Tehran City. The method of research iscorrelation. Participants were 317 students (with gender, major & degree differences) that selected by availablesamplingfrom the public universities of Tehran City. For data collection, Breso Academic Burnout Inventory (1997) with Cronbach's alpha (0.82) & Student-Life Stress Inventory with Cronbach's alpha(0.87) were used. The mean of last semester's grades of students were used as academic achievement index. Data were analyzed by spss20software in correlation, regression analysis& ANOVA. Results showed negative significant correlation between academic burnout 7 its subscales & academic achievement, so academic burnout predicts the academic achievement with -0.17 (P≤0.01).
