The aim of the present study was to Predict occupational stress in nurses based on emotion regulation strategies and coping strategies. The present research method was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population of the current study included nurses working at hospitals of Mashhad in 2023, and according to multistage cluster random sampling method, 365 eligible individuals answered the questionnaires. Research tools include the Nurses' Occupational Stress Scale (NSS, Gary Toft & Anderson, 1981), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ, Gross & John, 2003), Ways Of Coping Questionnaire (WOCQ, Lazarus and Folkman, 1988). To analyze the data, Pearson's correlation test and regression were used stepwise. The results of the study showed that the problem-focused coping style (r = -0.215), emotion-focused coping style (r = 0.199), reappraisal (r = -0.250), and suppression (r = 0.161) had a significant relationship with nurses' job stress (P < 0.05). The results of multiple regression analysis also showed that 18% of the variance in nurses' job stress was explained by the dimensions of emotion regulation and coping strategies. Overall, considering the role of coping styles and emotion regulation variables, it can be said that job stress is affected by emotional and cognitive structures, the identification of which can be effective in managing and controlling job stress.
