This study aimed to determine the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and orthorexia nervosa in students. The present study was a descriptive-correlational study using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the study included students of Islamic Azad University, Tonkabon Branch in the academic year 2024. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings showed that the proposed model had a good fit. In addition the findings showed that maladaptive perfectionism and self-compassion had a direct and significant effect on orthorexia nervosa; Also, maladaptive perfectionism had a direct and significant effect on self-compassion (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that self-compassion played a mediating role in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and orthorexia nervosa (P<0.05). From the overall findings, it can be concluded that maladaptive perfectionism had a direct and mediating effect on orthorexia nervosa.
