Abstract: (25 Views)
The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on the Self-Perception Burden and pain self-efficacy in women with breast cancer. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest design and a control group with a two-month follow-up. The statistical population included women with breast cancer in Tabriz in 2024. The sample size of the study included 40 women with breast cancer who were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups (20 people in each group). The research tools included the Self-Perception Burden Questionnaire (SPBQ) by Casino et al. (2003) and the Pain Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (PSEQ) by Nicholas (2007). The control group did not receive any intervention, but the experimental group received acceptance and commitment therapy (in eight sixty-minute sessions, one session per week). Repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that in the experimental group, the difference between pre-test, post-test and follow-up for Self-Perception Burden and pain self-efficacy was significant (P<0.05), and there was no difference between post-test and follow-up variables in the experimental groups (P<0.05). No significant difference was observed for the control group (P<0.05). The results showed that acceptance and commitment therapy is probably an effective treatment for improving Self-Perception Burden and pain self-efficacy in women with breast cancer.
