Abstract: (25 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of self-compassion on catastrophizing and distress tolerance during pregnancy. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test, control group, and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population included all pregnant women referred to Farhikhtegan Hospital in Tehran in 2024, from whom 30 individuals (15 in the control group and 15 in the experimental group) were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to the two groups. Data collection tools included the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) (Sullivan et al., 1995) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) (Lovibond & Lovibond, 2005). Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis. The findings indicated a significant difference at the 0.01 level between the mean scores of pain catastrophizing and distress in the experimental and control groups. Furthermore, the results showed that the intervention maintained its significant effect over time. Consequently, self-compassion training can be used as an effective approach to improve catastrophizing and distress tolerance.
