Abstract: (47 Views)
The present study aimed to validate the Persian version of the Situational Interest Questionnaire (ISIQ). This research was a descriptive validation study. In this study, 310 sixth and seventh-grade students in the city of Birjand participated during the 2024-2025 academic year, selected through a multi-stage cluster sampling method. In this study, the International Situational Interest Questionnaire (ISIQ; Potvin et al., 2023) and the Academic Engagement Scale (AES; Reeve, 2013) were administered. According to the results of the confirmatory factor analysis, the proposed four-factor structure for the final 17-item version demonstrated a good model fit. The validity results, through a positive and significant correlation with the academic engagement construct, showed desirable convergent validity for the instrument (p<0.01). The findings indicated that the Situational Interest Questionnaire has a desirable internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.90. Given its favorable validity and reliability among Iranian students, it is recommended that this scale be used to measure situational interest in this population.
