The aim of the present study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the reading anxiety questionnaire in high school students. The present study was descriptive-correlational and a type of psychometric study. The statistical population of this study included high school students in Fardis County schools in the 2024-2025 academic year. Using the available sampling method, 351 people were selected and responded to the Reading Anxiety Questionnaire (RAQ, Edwards et al., 2023), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire (GAD-7, Spitzer et al., 2006), and the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12, Goldberg, 1972). The validity of the questionnaire was examined using confirmatory factor analysis and concurrent validity, and the reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, McDonald's omega, split-half method, and test-retest reliability. The results of confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the single-factor construct validity of this questionnaire. The positive correlation between reading anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder (P<0.01, r=0.251) and the positive correlation between reading anxiety and general health (P<0.01, r=0.314) indicated the confirmation of the concurrent validity of the questionnaire. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the Reading Anxiety Questionnaire was estimated to be 0.857, the McDonald's omega coefficient was 0.857, the Guttman split-half coefficient was 0.741, and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.737. The results confirmed the validity and reliability of the reading anxiety questionnaire in high school students.
