Abstract: (64 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy for trauma on the quality of life and self-compassion of women who had experienced sexual trauma. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population included women who had experienced sexual trauma who referred to the Andisheh Nik Counseling Center in Rasht between February and May 2025. 26 of these women were purposively selected as the sample and then randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (13 people in each group). The research tools included the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF, 1996) and Neff Self-Compassion Scale (SCS, 2003). The experimental group members individually received 8 sessions (60 minutes) of emotion-focused therapy for trauma based on the Paivio and Pascual-Leone model. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that after controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean posttest quality of life and self-compassion in the experimental and control groups. Therefore, emotion-focused therapy for trauma was effective on the quality of life and self-compassion of women who had experienced sexual trauma.
