Abstract: (11 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on emotional empathy and couple harmony in women with marital conflict. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test and control group. The statistical population of this study included married women with marital conflict referring to counseling and psychology clinics in the west of Tehran in 2023, from which 32 people were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two groups (16 people in the experimental group and 16 people in the control group). The measurement tools included the Sanai's Marital Conflict Questionnaire (MCQ, 1990), Mehrabian & Epstein's Emotional Empathy Scale, and Javdan's Iranian Couples Intellectual Mutuality and Questionnaire Coordination (ICIMC, 2014). The experimental group underwent emotion-focused group therapy for 10 90-minute sessions once a week. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for analysis. The findings showed that by controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the mean of the posttest of the experimental and control groups in the variables of emotional empathy and couple harmony at the P<0.001 level.. As a result, emotion-focused therapy can be used as an effective treatment method for emotional empathy and couple harmony in conflicted women.
