Abstract:   (124 Views)
This study aimed to examine the role of identity styles and self-compassion in women’s family–social role conflict with the mediating role of achievement motivation. The research employed a descriptive-correlational design using structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population included Iranian women active on social media platforms in Tehran and Qom in 2023. A total of 220 participants were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using five instruments: the Revised Identity Style Inventory (ISI-5; Berzonsky, 2013), the Self-Compassion Scale – Short Form (SCS-SF; Raes et al., 2011), the Work–Family Conflict Scale (WFC; Netemeyer et al., 1996), the Decisional Conflict Scale (DCS; O'Connor, 1993), and the Work and Family Orientation Questionnaire (WOFO; Helmreich & Spence, 1978). SEM analysis showed good model fit. Path analysis revealed that avoidant–diffuse identity, self-compassion, and achievement motivation had significant direct effects on decisional conflict (p < .01). Informational and avoidant–diffuse identity styles had significant direct effects on achievement motivation (p<0.01). Self-compassion had no significant effect on achievement motivation but directly influenced both decisional and work–family conflict (p<0.05). Aroian test indicated that achievement motivation mediated the relationship between informational and avoidant–diffuse identity styles and decisional conflict (p < 0.05). The findings highlight the importance of identity styles, self-compassion, and achievement motivation in understanding women’s role conflicts.
