Abstract: (15 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between dimensions of time perspective and existential flourishing in students, mediated by behavioral self-regulation. The research method was descriptive-correlational using path analysis. The population consisted of undergraduate students at Shiraz University during the 2025-2026 academic year. Using multi-stage cluster random sampling, 350 students were selected, and after data screening, 335 valid questionnaires were analyzed. The research instruments included the Flourishing Scale (FS; Diener et al., 2010), the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI; Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999), and the Behavioral Self-regulation Questionnaire (BSQ; Miller & Brown, 1991). Data were analyzed using path analysis. The findings indicated that the proposed model had a good fit and explained 44% of the variance in existential flourishing. Moreover, the positive past and present-hedonistic dimensions showed a significant direct positive relationship with flourishing (p<0.05), whereas the direct relationships of present-fatalistic, negative past, and future time perspectives with flourishing were not significant (p>0.05). Additionally, behavioral self-regulation had a significant direct positive relationship with flourishing and played a significant mediating role in the relationship between all dimensions of time perspective and flourishing (p<0.05). Overall, it can be concluded that behavioral self-regulation plays a key role in transforming time perspectives into meaningful experiences and psychological growth, and positive dimensions of time perspective can enhance flourishing through it.
