Abstract: (9 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on impulsivity, rumination, and resilience among adolescents with self‑injurious behaviors. The research method was quasi‑experimental with a pretest–posttest design including a control group and a one‑month follow‑up period. The statistical population consisted of girl students with self‑injurious behaviors in Tehran during the 2024–2025 academic year. The sample consisted of 40 participants, purposively selected and randomly assigned to an experimental group (20) and a control group (20). The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS‑11; Patton et al., 1995), the Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS; Nolen‑Hoeksema & Morrow, 1991), and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD‑RISC; Connor & Davidson, 2003) were used to collect data. In addition, an 8‑session CBT protocol (one session per week, each lasting 90 minutes) was implemented as the intervention. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings indicated that there were significant differences between the pretest and posttest stages in the variables of impulsivity, rumination, and resilience (p<0.001). Moreover, there was no significant difference between the post-test and follow-up stages (p>0.001). The results showed that CBT significantly reduced impulsivity and rumination while increasing resilience among adolescents with self‑injurious behaviors. The stability of these effects at the follow‑up stage also indicates the effectiveness and efficiency of this therapeutic approach in improving the psychological indicators of this group of adolescents.
