Abstract: (7 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between personality organization and Social Network Addiction among students. The study employed a descriptive-correlational design using structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population consisted of undergraduate students aged 18 to 25 years at Islamic Azad University, Lahijan Branch, in 2024, from whom 400 participants were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Internet Addiction Test (IAT; Young et al., 1998), the Inventory of Personality Organization (IPO; Kernberg, 2002), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS; Zimet et al., 1988). The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings indicated that the proposed model demonstrated an adequate fit. The results showed that personality organization and perceived social support had a direct and significant effect on internet addiction. Additionally, the direct effect of personality organization on perceived social support was significant (P < 0.01). The bootstrap test results for the indirect pathway also indicated that perceived social support played a mediating role in the relationship between personality organization and internet addiction (P < 0.01). Accordingly, it can be concluded that personality organization influences internet addiction both directly and indirectly through the mediating role of perceived social support.
