Abstract:   (14 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of mentalization-based training on the reflective parenting capacity of mothers with children with behavioral problems. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design, a control group, and a two-month follow-up. The statistical population of the study included mothers with children with behavioral problems in Tehran city who had been referred to psychological clinics in 2023. From this population, 30mothers were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group underwent 8 sessions of 90 minutes under the compassion-based therapy program. The measurement tools were the Reflective Function questionnaire (PRFQ, Luiten, 2017). Data analysis was done using the repeated measurement variance analysis method. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and the post-test of Reflective Function in the experimental and control groups. And there was no significant difference at the 0.001 level between post-test and follow-up averages in the experimental group. The results were maintained in the follow-up period. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that mentalization-based education is a suitable intervention method to improve the reflective functioning of mothers of children with behavioral problems.
